LuHi’s Basketball program combines competitive team play and individualized skill-building to help players of all ages and levels work on their game. Campers are placed on a team based on their age and ability level.
Under the mentorship of the coaches, alumni, and players from the nationally ranked LuHi Varsity Basketball Team, campers work each session not only on dribbling, shooting, and passing, but on their coachability, sportsmanship, and character.
After completing his education at LuHi, Josh Corbin continued his basketball journey at Iona College, where he played at the Division 1 level and even had the opportunity to participate in the NCAA Tournament. In addition to his coaching responsibilities at LuHi, Josh has taught at Eagle Academy for the past 10 years in Brooklyn.
Throughout his coaching tenure at LuHi, Josh Corbin has been privileged to mentor and guide talented players like Andre Curbelo, Zed Key, and numerous others who have excelled in college and professional basketball. His commitment to developing young athletes is evident, and he continues to play an instrumental role in their growth and success.
He has also coached multiple division 1 players and 3 Gatorade players of the year, which included VJ Edgecombe.
As a parent of two young boys and as a coach, he truly embodies the core values of basketball at LuHi.
Coach Buck has been a member of the LuHi Summer Programs team since his days as a high school student at LuHi. He attended Wake Forest University and played four years on the men’s basketball team, along with NBA stars Chris Paul and Josh Howard.
After graduating, Coach Buck returned to LuHi as a mathematics teacher and assistant boys varsity basketball coach in 2007. In 2010, he became Head Coach for the program.
Over the past decade, Coach Buck has worked every summer in our basketball camp. He loves the warm weather and finds joy in helping young players improve their skills while having fun.
During the school year, Coach Buck has led his teams to 3 New York State Federation Championships. His teams in 2019 and 2020 finished the season with Top 10 national rankings. Dozens of players have graduated from LuHi and have gone on to play college basketball at UConn, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio State, Villanova, and more!
Coach Buck is a 3-time Newsday Long Island Coach of the Year (2011, 2019 and 2023)
Winner of 4 New York State Federation Championships (2011,2012,2019,2023)
