Four Great Schools in One - Designed to Teach Your Student How to Get The Most From Their PC
Program Descriptions
Computer Explorer School
Students will learn how to get the most from their PC while working on fun activities that enhance creativity. Topics covered include: music composition, home design and architecture, web design, desktop publishing, photo and movie editing. Students also have daily opportunities for swimming, computer gaming, and recreational activities.
During the first three days of this school, students will receive an additional one hour instructional period that highlights our other computer related offerings (Robotics, Game Design, and Multimedia). After the third day, students can switch their class or remain in the Computer Explorer School.
Video Game Design School
Does your child love playing video games? Wouldn't it be great if they could design their own unique games to play or challenge their friends with? This 2-week session will give your child the necessary skills to take his/her creative game ideas and put them into action! Students will learn how to use various types of game authoring software Each with its own intuitive interface that makes learning how to program easy and fun. If you think you have what it takes, then bring your ideas and enthusiasm, because the limits are endless!
Multimedia Design School
Students will learn about multimedia design while working with Adobe Creative Suite (CS) software and many Open Source software titles. Students will use this software to create electronic content in the areas of animation, audio and video, and two and three dimensional work.
Robotics School
Students who are interested in computers, robotics, and technology education paths, career choices and want to design, build, program or pursue technology ideas of their own will thrive in our new robotics program. Students will learn the basics of robotics and get a chance to assemble robots ranging in complexity to solve varied tasks with the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT 2.0 system.
Recreational Activities Include: Ultimate Frisbee, Capture the Flag, Wiffle Ball, Kickball, Soccer, Volleyball, Running Bases, and Computer Game Tournaments.
Director, William J. Claps.
Mr. Claps has a Master's Degree in Instructional Computing and holds several certificates in Computer Networking. He is the Lead Technology teacher and coordinator of the Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) program for the Northport School District. Mr. Claps has been working with children and computers since 1995.
$1050 for the session.
Lunch is available for an additional $60 per session.
